ARE YOU YIELDING TO GOD AS YOU SHOULD?

Revelation 3:19-20, Philippians 2:13 (GNB & CEV)

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. *….God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose. *God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.

To yield ourselves to God is to first acknowledge that our lives no longer belong to us. We no longer have a life of our own so we cannot live our lives however we choose to. We are dead and right now, Christ is our life (Col.3:3-4). We must continually open the doors of our lives to Jesus and allow Him to determine what should go on and what should not go on in our lives at all times because it is His life we have and are now living (Gal.2:20, 2Cor.5:15).

God is always at work in us by His Spirit to help us know and do His will. As we yield ourselves more to the leading of the Spirit of God, we will not walk in the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit will develop more in our lives (Gal.5:16, 22-23). We will mature spiritually and reflect more of the character of Christ. We must be deliberate about fixing our minds on the things of the Spirit and not on the things of the flesh (Rom.8:5). The Spirit wants to reveal Christ to us (John 16:14) As such, we must improve our attitude to God’s word. God and His word are one (John 1:1).

As God’s word comes to us, we must yield ourselves to it by meditating on it, accepting it as our reality, declaring it, praying in line with it and acting in line with it. As we allow God’s word to prune our lives, we will become more fruitful in God (John 15:1-8).

Prayer:
Dear Father, I open up myself to you. I yield myself to your Spirit and to your word. Please lead and guide me to do your will.
