“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)
How can we, a covenant people of a covenant-keeping God with so much divine investments and resources, be living in abject poverty? Each time I sit back to think about it, my heart bleeds. Some of the best qualities of diamond in the entire world are in Sierra Leone, but they are dying of starvation. Look at Congo, look at South Africa, look all over Africa. Africa is highly endowed, but because the Church is sleeping, others would come, take our resources and develop their own nations. Then we will go without it because we are not ready to think. For too long African nations have become so irresponsible and this irresponsibility has reduced all, even making its dignitaries become a liability.
We fail to reflect. We fail to ask questions such as “What do I do”? We have reduced coming to church to a religious exercise. Do you think that we are here just to prepare you for heaven? If that is the only reason, as soon as you receive Jesus, you should die and get out of the way. However, there is a more noble reason why God has kept you alive after you became a Christian. It is for you to make life better for somebody. Do you ever wake up in the morning and ask what can I do? How is my life going to benefit somebody today? Lord, show me how my life would be able to put a smile on somebody’s face.’ Any gift that you have that is not blessing somebody is not a gift.
If the Church of Jesus can start thinking; you do not have to wait until it becomes big, you can do the impossible with the available. And that is the way God loves it; ‘For you see your calling, brethren, how that not many noble are called. God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise and prudent.’ It is time to start thinking so that you can fulfill destiny.
