ASK GOD TO TEACH YOU HIS WAYS

Psalms 25:4 (KJV, TPT), Colossians 1:9-10 (NLT)

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.*Lord, direct me throughout my journey so I can experience your plans for my life. Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you. …we have not stopped praying for you since … We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

God is interested in meeting our needs, because He loves us so much. However, He does not only want to direct us on how we can have our needs met, He also wants to direct us on how we can do His will and be pleasing unto Him. Our highest fulfillment does not come from having our needs met, but from being pleasing unto God and doing His will. When having our needs met becomes more important than pleasing God, we have unconsciously made our needs our god. In Luke 12:15 (NKJV), Jesus said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Life is about knowing God and pleasing God, so we must make this a priority in our lives. Like Jesus, our meat should be doing God’s will and finishing the work He has given us to do, (John 4:34).

If you are willing to do God’s will, God is more than willing to reveal that will to you. Do not only pray for God to provide your needs; pray a lot for Him to show and teach you His will, in the same way David and Apostle Paul prayed in our text above. You must also back up this prayer with the commitment to study and practice God’s word continually, especially the revelation of Christ. Renewing your mind transforms your life, (Rom.12:2). The new man is renewed in the knowledge of Christ, (Col.3:10). You must also continue to yield to God who is at work in you by His Spirit, making you willing and able to do His will, (Phil.2:13). As you grow in your knowledge of God’s will, your life will honour God more and you will be more fruitful. This year, God will not only meet your needs, He will increase you in the knowledge of His will, and your life will be more pleasing to Him and you will be more fruitful and fulfilled.

Prayer:
I want to know your ways, O God. I want to be more pleasing unto you and I want to be more fruitful and fulfilled in you in all areas of my life.
