MEMORISE: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 29:1
Read: Proverbs 9:7-9
7. He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Apart from identifying a wise person by whom or what he learns from, a wise person can also be known by his or her attitude to correction. Today’s reading points to the fact that if you find it difficult to love those who correct you, you are a scorner and a fool.
A scorner takes offence when corrected. Hence, the fellow often plans to revenge by disgracing the one who has corrected him. If you are in this category, you have to take heed and watch your attitude.
When your parents correct you for your wrongdoing, it doesn’t mean that they Hart you or don’t care about you. They correct you because they love you and know that if you do not change your ways you will end up being less of the person that God wants you to be. It is said that charity begins at home.
If your parents don’t correct you at home, you would be corrected outside by strangers and situations that would disgrace you while at it. If you had been told to stop sagging your trousers but didn’t listen, and you were eventually flogged in school for it, you will immediately remember that your father corrected you but you didn’t listen. Be a child that can be corrected so that God can use you.
PRAYER POINT:
Be a child that accepts correction.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Jeremiah 46-48, Hebrews 4
Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
