AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.”  1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV

Christ is the last Adam and righteousness is a position in Christ! Are you living your life under the first or the last Adam? Today’s text says, now that you stand before God, awake to your position. Breathe it! Speak it, believe it and think it; that is who you are in Christ. He didn’t say awake to right doing but awake to the fact that God has made you righteous. Awake to the fact that God has given you the ability to stand before Him. You have been discharged and acquitted with no appeal.

Where is your thought life gravitating towards? When you look at your obedience, you will see weakness, but when you look at Jesus’ obedience, you will have victory. When the Israelites sinned in the wilderness, God told them to make a replica of the snake in bronze and put it on a pole. As long as they looked at the snake bite in their bodies, they would not have victory; but as many as looked up, lived. Stop looking at yourself. Rather, keep looking at what Jesus accomplished for you.

Why do you have more faith in the power of sin than in the power of righteousness? When you think sin, you undo righteousness and all that God did on the cross. Romans 4: 5-8 says: “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also described the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin” (KJV).

Jesus died to sin so that sin will no longer be put to your account. So, stop putting sin into your account. Blessed is the man who understands that God has made him righteous. Such a person is empowered to live a holy life for God.
