BE DILIGENT AND FAITHFUL

Proverbs 22:29, Proverbs 12:24 (NIV), Luke 19:16-17 (NKJV) Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shallnot stand before mean men. *Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. *If you want to reign in life, don’t sit on your hands. Instead work hard atdoing what’s right, for the slacker will end up working to make someone else succeed. *Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’

God uses diligence and faithfulness to bring out the greatness that He has given us in Christ. Diligence is an attribute of faithfulness which is a dimension of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal.5:22). It is the nature of God in us that makes us demonstrate absolute loyalty and unwavering commitment both to God and to people we serve or are connected to. It makes us put our whole being into whatever we are doing and it makes us not practise eye service. Diligence is about being thorough, careful, meticulous and persistent in all that you do. It is about giving your best focus and commitment to what you do.

God Himself greatly loves, expects and rewards all manner of diligence in our lives. He wants us to seek Him diligently (Heb.11:6) and not casually or slothfully. He wants us to guard our hearts with all diligence (Prov.4:23) and to be diligent in all that our hands find to do. As a leader, God expects you to carry out your responsibilities with diligence (Rom.12:8). He expects you to know and cater to the state of your flocks diligently, (Prov.27:23). 2Pet.1:5-8 shows us that God wants us to diligently increase in our faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, temperance, brotherly kindness and charity so that we can be fruitful in our knowledge of Christ.

Diligence will help you to make your calling and election sure, (2Pet.1:10). People who are diligent are watchful and watchfulness prevents being taken unawares negatively, (Matt.24:43). People who are diligent do not fear accountability. Times of accountability are actually times for honour and promotion for them. Diligence will increase your level of influence.

I thank you Heavenly Father for the grace you have given me to be faithful and diligent in every area of my life.
