Be Diligent in Speaking the Right Words
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Hebrews 4:14 (GNB) Let us, then, hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we have a great High Priest who has gone into the very presence of God – Jesus, the Son of God.
Romans 4:19-20 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
It is one thing to know how to speak the right words and another to consistently speak them, even in the face of opposition, discouragement and frustration. In Job 22:29, the Bible says, “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.” No matter what everybody else is experiencing, resist the urge to speak negatively because you are different. Psalms 91:7 (GNB) says, “A thousand my fall dead beside you, then thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed.” In Psalms 107:2 the Bible says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” You are the redeemed of the Lord and no matter how you feel or how things look, you should speak as one who is redeemed of the Lord. Say of the Lord that He is your refuge and fortress, no evil will befall you and he will deliver you and lift you up, Psa. 91:2 & 14.
Although there was no physical justification for Abraham to continue to declare God’s promises to himself, he continued to do so until there was a manifestation. Our faith and hope are sure because they are hinged on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, 1 Cor. 15:14, 1 Pet. 1:3. In the Contemporary English Version, our second text above says, “We have a great high priest, who has gone into heaven, and he is Jesus the Son of God. That is why we must hold on to what we have said about him.” our words are the words of Jesus and they are spirit and life, John 6:53. They quicken and cause things to come alive by God’s power. We are not just making positive confessions. We are making faith declarations. Positive confessions come from a merely optimistic mind, while faith declarations come from your revelation of the Word of God. We say because God has said, Heb. 13:5-6.
Prayer:
I thank you, Heavenly Father, that because of Jesus all your promises are sure in my life. I will keep on holding on and declaring your promises.
