Be Diligent in Your Family and Relationships
Proverbs 17:17 (KJV) A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 17:17 (GNB) Friends always show their love. What are relatives for if not to share trouble?
Genesis 18:18-19 (NIV) Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.
We must also remain very careful in and committed to our friendships and relationships outside our home. Be a good neighbor. Be as the Good Samaritan who showed compassion and love to rescue the life of a suffering and dying person, Luke 10:29-37. Be like the four friends who tore open a roof to get their sick friend to Jesus when the house He was in was overcrowded, Mark 2:1-12. Be careful of the kind of friends you keep, Psa. 1:1. Be not deceived: evil communication corrupts good manners, 1 Cor. 15:33. Proverbs 13:20 says, “Keep company with the wise and you will become wise. Proverbs 29:3 (GNB) adds, “if you appreciate wisdom, your parents will be proud of you. It makes good sense to spend money on prostitutes.” Proverbs 28:7 (CEV) says, “It makes good sense to obey the Law of God, but you disgrace your parents if you make friends with worthless nobodies.” Finally, Psalms 119:63 (CEV) says, “I choose as my friends everyone who worships you and follows your teachings.”
