“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”Romans 15:4 (NKJV)
Whatever we see in the Old Testament is written for our learning. You can learn something from them. The stories about Kings and Queens and all the things that are documented in the scriptures are there to instruct us. Remember the Bible says that: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV).
So, when you open the Bible to read the scriptures, you will always learn something. Not only that, reading the stories of the Bible will inspire faith in you. Reading how God moved in the days of old will encourage your faith. Reading about how God flexed His muscle and how He revealed Himself in impossible situations are enough to encourage and strengthen you. If He did it before, He will do it again because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Our text went further to say “…that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” We are not hopeless! There is no situation we are faced with that is hopeless. Every situation that a child of God faces has a solution. There is always an answer for every challenge in life. In Christ there is no defeat. In Christ there is no disappointment! In Christ there is no failure! In Christ, everything is alright! However, in our journey of faith, you must realize that there will always be an opportunity where our faith will be challenged. If you have not encountered any get ready because you will. You will always come to a point where you have questions in your heart that are begging for answers. But I want to assure you that the God we serve is a faithful God.
