BE FAITHFUL WITH LITTLE

LUKE 19:16-19 (GNB) The first one came and said, ‘Sir, I have earned ten gold coins with the one you gave me.’ ‘Well done,’ he said; ‘you are a good servant! Since you were faithful in small matters, I will put you in charge of ten cities.’ The second servant came and said, ‘Sir, I have earned five gold coins with the one you gave me.’ To this one he said, ‘You will be in charge of five cities.’

The servants in our text above did not know the kind of promotion that they were going to receive just by being faithful with little. If they had known, maybe they would have been more faithful. It is good however, that even without being promised anything, these servants chose to be faithful.

Being faithful must have been part of them. They did not despise the opportunity they had and they were greatly rewarded and promoted for it. This task also seemed like something that was outside their normal duties. Yet, they still put in the same faithfulness they applied to their duties. Most times, promotion comes when you are able to do more than what is usually required of you.

Their master must have trusted them for him to have given them this extra task. He however wanted to be sure of their capacity before promoting them to a new level entirely. Ruling over cities did not seem to relate with trading a single gold coin. This is how God can promote you and position you in a place that does not seem related to where you are coming from or what you have been doing. Joseph had no idea that from the prison, he was going to become Prime Minister of Egypt.
Do not despise any opportunity you have to serve. Be faithful.

PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for the grace you have given me to be faithful. Help me to be faithful with every opportunity I have to serve.
