BE HUMBLE TO LEARN

“And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” Acts 18:26 (KJV)

You may be limited in knowledge in your walk with God. But don’t be comfortable there. Seek your eyes of understanding to be enlightened. The more revelation you have, the more powerful you become.

Apollos was bold and fervent but was limited in knowledge. So, it is possible for people to be preaching and still be limited because they have not received insight into certain truths that God is giving to the Body of Christ. It is possible for someone to have large followers and still be limited in the interpretation of the scriptures. There are many ministries today that are still operating in the pediatrics of the doctrines of Christ. Many are still teaching things in the Old Testament that do not apply to the Church so there are lots of things we have attracted to our walk with God which have nothing to do with the Church. So, there is a mixture. Then we get frustrated when it is not working. And that is not the will of God.

Aquila and Priscilla knew that Apollos was limited. So, they took him and taught him things that deepened his understanding of the gospel. They expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. That means that what he knew was not perfect enough. What he knew was not too good. And they said: “Let’s fine-tune what you are teaching. Some things you are saying, thank God for it, but it is not really like that”.

And the beautiful thing I love about Apollos is that Apollos was humble to learn. We have a lot of people who are not humble to learn. They feel why should I now change. “I have been saying this over the years.  No! I am not going to change” That is pride! If you are not humble, you will place a lid on what you can receive from God. “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (James 4:6 KJV)
