BE STILL BEFORE GOD

Psalms 46:10, Habakkuk 2:1 (NLT, GNB)

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the LORD will tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.

One reason why some believers are not hearing the voice of God as they should is that they are just too busy, active and anxious to listen to God. Some are too busy to spend time with God like Martha (Luke 10:38-42) and some, even while spending time with God (either personally or with other believers), their minds are too busy working, thinking, planning, calculating or being distracted by one thing or the other. They are thus unable to maximize their time of fellowship and encounter with God and His word and they miss out on a lot.

Many believers do not wait or listen to God’s voice as they pray and many do not spend time to study the Bible to receive God’s direction and wisdom for their life issues. Our world has become so busy and distracted and many believers are allowing this affect them negatively.

God loves and highly values a gentle and quiet spirit, (1Pet.3:4). Be deliberate about being still, quiet and focused on God. From time to time, you can go on a fast both from food and from many other things, so you can focus on God and spend quality time with Him. Do not be too hasty in making decisions or reacting to situations. Go to God in prayer and ask Him for His wisdom or His word concerning your life or that situation. He will speak to you. Be sensitive to the Spirit.

Prayer:
I thank you Father for loving me and always speaking to me. Help me to always focus on you and listen for your voice.
