“And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?” – Genesis 27:37
We succeed in life by blessings. The success of Jacob’s life was determined by the blessings he received from his father, Isaac. Isaac blessed Jacob. Isaac made the brethren of Jacob into servants for Jacob. Isaac made Jacob into a lord. Isaac sustained Jacob with corn and wine. The success of Jacob’s life was determined by the blessing spoken over him by his father.
The first thing God did for man was to bless him because man’s destiny depended on the blessing. A blessing is what you need to begin your life! If you start your ministry without a blessing, it will not go far. Many pastors are unable to thrive because they did not start out in ministry with a blessing. Some started their ministry by stealing other people’s congregations and others by destroying other people’s churches. Stealing and destroying do not bring blessings. When you start out without a blessing, you can only expect failure.
Some want to start out their marriages in a beautiful place or on an island. Some want to get married in a garden or on a beach. As they start out their new lives, they want to impress the world with a display of fashion, money and prestige. Their minds are on earthly things. They do not mind if an unbeliever officiates their marriage. Their minds are not on the reality of blessings and curses.
God wanted Adam and Eve to start out with a blessing. They began their walk together with God’s blessings. Even those who started out with a blessing were destroyed by the devil. How much more those who do not start out with a blessing?!
