BEING FAITHFUL BY THE MERCY OF GOD

1Corinthians 7:25 (KJV, TPT)

Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. *Now let me address the issue of singleness. I must confess, I have no command to give you that comes directly from the Lord. But let me share my thoughts on the matter, as coming from one who has experienced the mercy of the Lord to keep me faithful to him.

What is your motivation for being faithful to God? In our text above, Apostle Paul shows us that His motivation for being faithful to God came from His consciousness or revelation of the mercy of God. Romans 12:1 (NIV) says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” The Living Bible says, “And so, dear brothers, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living sacrifice, holy—the kind he can accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?” The Passion Translation says, “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifice. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.”

There is a point to which you will understand and be conscious of the mercy that God has shown you in Christ that will make you broken and sold out to Him. It will make you loyal and committed to Him. It will make you give Him your all. Peter forsook all and followed Jesus because he was broken by the grace Jesus showed him, (Luke 5:1-11).

Prayer:
I thank you Heavenly Father for the great love and mercy you have shown me in Christ, I yield myself to you Lord.
