BENEFITS OF A LIFE OF CONSTANT PRAISE & REJOICING

Romans 4:19-21 (LB)

…because his faith was strong, he didn’t worry about the fact that he was too old to be a father … and that Sarah his wife, at ninety, was also much too old to have a baby…. Abraham never doubted. He believed God, for his faith and trust grew ever stronger, and he praised God for this blessing even before it happened. He was completely sure that God was well able to do anything he promised.

Constant praise and rejoicing are acts or expressions of faith. One major benefit they give is that they strengthen our faith in God. They remind us of God’s love, promises and goodness. They take our minds away from what may be going on at the moment (which is temporal) and fix it on God and His goodness (which is sure and eternal). The joy of the Lord is our strength, (Neh.8:10b). Constant praise and rejoicing keep you hopeful and strong in many areas of your life. Just like our text above speaks of Abraham, Hebrews 11:11 says, “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age because she judged him faithful who had promised.” Sarah continued declaring to herself how faithful God was and it produced strength in her to conceive her baby.

Continuous praise and rejoicing are also major ways that we keep experiencing the filling of the Holy Spirit. “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father,” (Eph.5:18-20, AMPC).

Action Point:
Thank God for the grace He has given you to keep rejoicing and praising Him always. Rejoice and praise Him now.
