CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE ABOUT WORSHIP
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.’’ Romans 5:6 KJV
Many believers are stingy and unwilling to give to appreciate the goodness of God on their behalf. They are not willing to give their time and their expertise or anything for the expansion of the kingdom of God. This is because they think they are responsible for all the goodness of God in their lives.
Jesus said: “I will build my church,” not your business, your career etc. No! He said, “I will build my church.” In other words, anything you are building should hang around the kingdom; every other thing is secondary. Think of the air we breathe freely. If you go to the hospital and attempt to pay for oxygen for one week, maybe then, you will appreciate the goodness of God.
When there is no rain, you will say it is too hot. Then in the evening it rains, and everywhere gets cool. Yet, you think it is you. Beloved, we need to change our attitude towards worshipping this God. According to Romans 5:6: “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” (KJV). He died for the ungodly, not the good! You see, we always like to do something for those that are good but Jesus did it for the ungodly. That is how good He is! The scripture goes further to tell us that “…God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 KJV).
That was the goodness of God in demonstration! The scriptures conclude by saying: “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life” (Romans 5:10 KJV). Don’t begin to pat yourself on the back. You didn’t do anything! When you were utterly helpless, Christ came just at the right time and died for you. While we were still enemies, he restored our friendship. We must learn to express our appreciation and gratitude through worship.
