CHOOSE TO REMAIN SPIRITUAL

Jude 1:17-20 (GNB), Colossians 3:2

But remember, my friends, what you were told in the past by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “When the last days come, people will appear who will make fun of you, people who follow their own godless desires.” These are the people who cause divisions, who are controlled by their natural desires, who do not have the Spirit. But you, my friends, keep on building yourselves up on your most sacred faith. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit. *Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

There are two parallels that are occurring in these last days. Gross darkness is covering the people of the earth and God’s light and glory is increasing upon the people of God, (Isa.60:1-2). Iniquity is abounding and the love of many is growing cold (Matt.24:12). However, God’s mountain is being exalted and many nations are flowing into it, seeking the knowledge of God’s ways and walking in His path, (Isa.2:2). As evil and carnality increase, righteousness and spirituality are also increasing. Those who choose to remain carnal, intentionally cut themselves out of God’s life, while those who choose to remain spiritual are connecting more with God’s life and peace, (Rom.8:5-6.) Some people will deliberately despise spiritual things in order to discourage us from growing in our spirituality. Because of their carnal mind, they do not understand the things of God, because these things are spiritually discerned, (1Cor.2:14). The eyes of these carnal people have been blinded by the god and the things of this world, (2Cor.4:4). They have made their appetites their God, they only think of earthly things and they are heading for destruction, (Phil.3:19).

Being spiritual is not about being spooky, religious, sin conscious, superstitious or suspicious of people. It is about being like Christ and being strong in the revelation of Christ. Being consumed by the passion of Christ and all He has done for you. Value God’s Word, prayer and the things of God. See people and things the way God sees them. Love righteousness and hate iniquity. Let the love of God burn strong in your heart. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Be a doer of God’s Word and not a hearer alone. Keep growing spiritually.

Prayer:
Dear Father, no matter the evil and carnality around me, please help me to focus on you and remain spiritually minded.
