Memorise: “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” – Luke 10:1
Read: Mark 3:13-14
13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
Bible In One Year: Psalm 136-138, 1 Corinthians 9
MESSAGE:
Out of several virgins who attended the beauty pageant in the book of Esther 2, only Esther was chosen. She was chosen for a purpose. Shortly after she was chosen, God’s people were in a crisis and she helped them out of it. This shows that God hand picks us for a reason beyond our own selves. The fact that you were appointed a social, health or time prefect means that God wants you to have a positive impact on people in that area.
This also tells us that God looks out for certain qualities in people before choosing them. He looks out for people who are selfless so that they don’t just use the position to benefit themselves, but to stand in the gap for others. He also looks out for people who are determined to do good, notwithstanding the obstacles on their way. Hence, if you want to be chosen by God for any position in the future, begin to develop these attributes in yourself now.
Reflection:
If you are occupying any position now, are you fulfilling God’s purpose for putting you there?
Hymn 2:
1 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3 Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4 But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5 Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
