CHOSEN TO BE WITH HIM

Luke 6:12-13, Mark 3:13-15

…he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called…his disciples: and… chose twelve…*And he goeth up…a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

God has indeed chosen us for great things, but we must never forget that the greatest reason He chose us is to be in Him and to be with Him. God chose us to have a real relationship with Him. This must be your greatest priority and this must be your greatest joy.

Jesus exemplified this while He was on the earth. There was nothing He loved to do as much as fellowshipping with God the Father. Jesus never allowed the fact that His fame was spreading and His ministry activities were increasing, to stop Him from withdrawing Himself to spend time with God, (Luke 5:16, NIV). He only did what He saw the Father doing and He could see what the Father was doing because He was always in close fellowship with the Father, (John 5:19).

As we spend quality time in fellowship with God the Father, our faith is strengthened and the life of God in us is stirred up more and more. This year, do not allow anything take away your time of fellowship with God. Don’t be carried away with so many activities like Martha was. Be like Mary and do the one thing that is needful to always sit at Jesus’ feet, (Luke 10:38-42). Love spending time with God so much that like Paul and Silas even in terrible situations you will still pray and sing unto God, (Acts 16:25).

Prayer:
Dear Father, I receive your grace to continually study your word and pray unto you. Help me never to be distracted from this.
