CHRIST IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION (2)

Revelation 1:1-2, 10-11a

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; …unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. *I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:…

John knew Jesus and was very close to Jesus when Jesus was on the earth (John 21:20), but when Jesus appeared to him on the island of Patmos, he fell at Jesus’ feet as though he was dead and Jesus laid His right hand on him and said, “…Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

To the church in Ephesus, Jesus introduced Himself as “…the one who holds the seven stars (heads of the churches) firmly in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands (the churches),” (Rev. 2:1 [TPT], Rev. 1:20). In His message to the church in Smyrna, Jesus introduced Himself as, “…the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive,” (Rev. 2:8) To the church in Pergamos, He introduced Himself as “…the one whose words pierce the hearts of men,” (Rev. 2:12) To the church in Thyatira “…the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass,” (Rev. 2:18). To the church in Sardis “…he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars,” (Rev. 3:1). To Philadelphia, “…he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens,” (Rev. 3:7) To Laodicea, “…the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God,” (Rev. 3:14).

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the great privilege to know Christ. Please open my eyes more and more, to the person and glory of Christ.
