CHRIST IS A GOOD SHEPHERD

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” Psalms 23:1-2 KJV

Today we are talking about Jesus the good shepherd. Do you know that it’s a shepherd that chooses his sheep, not the reverse? When you go to the supermarket to buy multiple items, you choose what you want and henceforth, you take responsibility for them. David knew what it meant to be a shepherd. He knew what it was to take care of sheep and what it meant to leave them to the challenges of life. He said: “the Lord is my shepherd and from this moment on, I shall not want. He does everything for me. Even when I go astray, He brings me back because He is the one who makes all things ready.”

Beloved, stop struggling and start receiving. The Lord has prepared a table for you in the presence of your enemies. He has anointed your head with oil so that you can enjoy abundance.  Even when you walk through the valley of shadow of death, you have no need to fear any evil. Why?  He is right there with you! He will never leave nor forsake you! He does not go on vacation! No wonder David said: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever” (Psalms 23:6 KJV).

Indeed, God’s loving-kindness was always there with David. No situation defeated him. Against the lion and bear, God showed up for him. Against Goliath, God showed up for him. A good shepherd does not abandon His own; the Lord will not abandon you. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the good Shepherd shall deliver him from them all.

Why are you anxious about tomorrow? It’s already covered! Stop fretting. My body itches when I see believers fretting. Read the scriptures; if God says He can take care of the lilies of the garden and the birds of the air, He surely can take care of you.
