Christ is Our Purpose

Galatians 3:8 & 16 (CEV), Acts 3:25b-26 (CEV)
…the Scriptures said…God would accept the Gentiles because of their faith. That’s why God told Abraham the good news that all nations would be blessed because of him. *…the promises God made to Abraham and his descendant. The promises were not…to many descendants, but only to one, and that one is Christ. *…He said to Abraham, “All nations on earth will be blessed because of someone from your family.” God sent his chosen Son to you first, because God wanted to bless you and make each one of you turn away from your sins.

When God called Abraham and told him that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through him, the real blessing that God was referring to was the redemption of man that would come about by the works of Christ. This is the blessing David was describing in Romans 4:6-8. The blessing of having all our sins forgiven and having the righteousness of God imputed to us by faith. When the Bible speaks about Abraham believing God and it was accounted to him for righteousness (Rom.4:3), what Abraham believed was all that God told him about Christ. This is why in John 8:56, Jesus said, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.”

It is because of what God told Abraham about Christ that Abraham believed that he would be able to birth Isaac. Christ was going to come through Abraham’s physical lineage and Christ would die on the cross for the redemption of all men. By virtue of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, every curse is taken away and God’s blessing and Spirit can now come upon all who put their faith in Christ (Gal.3:13-14).

The glorious purpose God has for your life concerns the lives of others who will be touched and blessed by the life of Christ manifesting through you. You have the life of Christ in you and you are a member of the body of Christ. God wants to reveal your new identity in Christ to you and reveal how he can flow through you to manifest the life and power of Christ to touch and bless the lives of others. God wants to use you and what you do to bring people to Christ and reconcile them back to Himself and His will for their lives.

Prayer Focus:
Ask God to open your eyes and reveal to you how He wants the life of Christ to flow through you to touch and bless others in what you do.
