“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” – Colossians 1:15

December 13, 2020

Yesterday, we discussed Paul’s perspective of Christmas, which focused on the REASON Jesus came to earth – to save us from our sins. Today, we take a closer look at what Christ’s coming reveals to all of us.

It’s always fascinating when you see a mother and daughter or a father and son who look so similar. So, what does this have to do with Christmas? Good question.  In Colossians 1:15, Paul referred to Jesus as, “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” In other words, if you want to know what God is like, just look to His Son. Jesus is the spittin’ image of His Father in every way.

This Christmas, when you read Matthew’s account of Jesus’ birth where he quotes the prophet Isaiah, take a minute to really reflect on what it means – that Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth. “Behold the virgin shall be with child and bear a son and they shall call his name ‘Immanuel’ which translated means, ‘God with us.’”

Want to know what God is like? Look at His boy. Want to know God personally? Trust in His Son.
