MEMORISE: Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the Lord. Isaiah 52:11

READ: Number 8:5-7

5 The Lord said to Moses:

6 Take the Levites from among the other Israelites and make them ceremonially clean.

7 To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing on them; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.

Bible In One Year: Genesis 25-27; Matthew 9:1-17

MESSAGE:

A lot of people think cleanliness has to do with the soul alone. This is not true because God is as interested in your physical environment as He is with your soul. You cannot worship God in a dirty environment and expect Him to accept your worship. Your surroundings should be as clean as your heart.

God is also interested in your physical appearance. This is why He told Moses to take the Levites from among the congregation and cleanse them in the Bible passage that we read today. If you read through the Bible, no one appeared before a king in a dirty or smelly apparel. For instance, when Joseph was to appear before Pharaoh, he cleaned himself up.

“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself. and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.” – Genesis 41:14

Joseph had to clean up before seeing an earthly king; if you are indeed the temple of the Heavenly King, you and your environment would be clean always.

Key Point:

Cleanliness is godliness.

Hymn 2: All Things Bright And Beautiful

  1. All things bright and beautiful,
    All creatures great and small,
    All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
  2. Each little flower that opens,
    Each little bird that sings,
    He made their glowing colours
    He made their tiny wings.
  3. The purple-headed mountain,
    The river running by,
    The sunset, and the morning
    That brightens up the sky.
  4. The cold wind in the winter
    The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
    He made them every one.
  5. He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
    How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well
