CONFIDENCE OF GOD’S LOVE DURING THE STORMS OF LIFE

Mark 4:37-40 (NKJV)

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat … But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said…,“Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

In two verses before our text above, Jesus told His disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.” In between the time that He said that and the fulfilment of that word, a great storm arose at sea and it so happened that Jesus was fast asleep on a pillow during the storm. The disciples were apprehensive because it looked like their lives were at stake and the only person that could save them was fast asleep.

They then rushed to wake Jesus up and asked Him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are perishing?” There are storms of life that will arise unexpectedly, threatening the process and fulfilment of God’s word to us and tempting us to doubt God’s great love for us. But in the midst of our storm, God wants us to know that nothing can stop His word from coming to pass in our lives and nothing can stop or change God’s great love for us.

God did not promise us that there will be no storms or trials. He promised that the storms or trials we face will not consume us, (Isa.43:2). Beloved, God cares about you and you will not perish in that situation. Hold on to God’s word and to His great love for you. Instead of being anxious, pray with thanksgiving. Even though it looks like God is silent, His power is still working in your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your great love for me and for your mighty word that is at work in my life even right now.
