Memorise: And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 1 Timothy 6:8

Read: Ecclesiastes 5:10-12

10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?

12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

Bible In One Year: Genesis 15-17; Matthew 5:27-48

MESSAGE:

Contentment means be satisfied with what one has. A contented child of God is grateful and happy with what God has done for him or her. He or she also appreciates what God is doing in the lives of others. Therefore, lack of contentment is a sin because it is a sign of ingratitude to God for what He has done for you and others.

Sometimes, I fear for this generation; a lot of young ones lack contentment and want to make money by all means because they want to ‘live large’. You would hear of a sixteen year old boy who wants to own a car, not just any car but a big one purchased with his money. This has led many of them into crimes such as cyber crimes (yahoo plus), armed robbery, prostitution, et cetera. Some get what they want but face the consequences of their ill-gotten wealth later. My child, there will be time for you to live large: then, it will be based on the hard work you have put into life. The source of your wealth will be ‘legit’ and you will be in Christ. Believe me, only those who are in Christ can live large. But for now, content with what you have.

Key Point:

Contentment gives peace.

Hymn 16: My Faith Looks Up To Thee

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,
    Thou Lamb of Calvary,
    Savior divine!
    Now hear me while I pray,
    Take all my guilt away,
    Oh, let me from this day
    Be wholly Thine!
  2. May Thy rich grace impart
    Strength to my fainting heart,
    My zeal inspire!
    As Thou hast died for me,
    Oh, may my love to Thee
    Pure, warm and changeless be,
    A living fire!
  3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
    And griefs around me spread,
    Be Thou my guide; i
    Bid darkness turn to day,
    Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
    Nor let me ever stray
    From Thee aside.
  4. When ends life’s transient dream,
    When death’s cold sullen stream
    Shall o’er me roll;
    Blest Savior, then, in love,
    Fear and distrust remove;
    Oh, bear me safe above,
    A ransomed soul.
