Memorise: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

Bible Reading: Luke 10:18-21

  1. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
  2. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
  3. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
  4. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Bible Reading In One Year: Proverbs 3-4; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

MESSAGE:

Eagles nests are always built in high places where they won’t be threatened by other birds or animals. However, the only enemies eagles have are serpents because no matter how high the eagles nest is, serpents will try to reach it so that they can eat their favourite food which is birds eggs.

One of the ways eagles deal with the serpent is by using its beak to hit the head of the serpent until it dies. The Bible rightly calls Satan a serpent (Revelation 12:9). So just the way the eagle deals with the serpent, so should you as a child of God; use your mouth. When the devil tried to tempt Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11, He used the word of God to overcome. So should you as a child of God. You should confront obstacles on your way to greatness with the word of God.

To use the word of God, you need to learn it by heart. Many Christians of today don’t know the word of God, the internet has assisted them even more. They will quickly google it or use the app in their phones. Jesus didn’t need to consult books before countering the tempter. Fill your heart with the word of God and use it to overcome the enemy.

Key Point:

Learn God’s word by heart so that you can readily use it when the need for it arises.

Hymn: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way,
While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away,
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay,
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows,
    And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
