DESIRE GROWTH
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
1 Peter 2:2 (KJV)
One of the foremost things man was instructed to do after he was created by God was to grow. Hence, as we give our lives to Christ as new born babes, God desires that we start growing by drinking the milk of His word. You are supposed to have a hunger for progress because as you are growing, changes are taking place. Unfortunately, there are some believers who have been in church for a long time but there are no visible changes in their lives. When you take notes in church do you go back home to read and apply them to your life?
Can you imagine a man of 70 years waking up in the morning and asking for breast milk? You will certainly say something is wrong with him. The scripture says when you should be fathers and teachers, when you should have taken the responsibility to develop others as you have been developed, there seems to be a need to still teach you the elementary things of God. Then something is wrong. The strategy of God’s plans and purpose is that those who have been taught should teach those who are coming up. Thus, the pastor will now have time to receive fresh revelations that will develop the people.
You cannot be in the church over the years and you are still being begged to stop complaining, and to forgive. If you are like that, you are a baby; “but strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14 KJV). Strong meat talks about deeper spiritual truth and those who use it are the mature ones. Make up your mind today to discard babyish things and watch God commit more serious issues into your hand. Now, I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them, which are sanctified.
