Developing Intimacy with God-Part 2

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching. I strongly believe you have deepened your relationship with God, not just as your Creator or Father, but also as your Lord. This week, we shall examine Avenues for Developing Intimacy with God.

Avenues in Developing Intimacy with God:

Through Word Study: The Bible is the written Word of God, which is God speaking to you directly. However, you need to know God personally and develop a daily relationship with Him through deep Word study. The Word says: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:17). When you study the Word of God, just as you can identify the voices of close family members or friends without seeing them, you get familiar with His voice. The Word says: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27). Some years ago, before my mother went on to glory, I went to a particular city for a meeting. It was such a great crowd that getting back to the car after the event was an uphill task. However, right in that mammoth crowd, I could identify my mother’s voice, even though I never knew she was in that city at the time. That is how it should be with God, and this relationship is developed through studying His Word. If you are familiar with God’s voice, He will caution you and deliver you from getting into the wrong relationships with men.

Cultivate your Prayer Life: Prayer is our communication link with God. If your prayer life is buoyant, your relationship with Him will also be buoyant. God desire we commune with Him daily. Just as it is not natural to have a relationship with someone you don’t talk to, you cannot have a deep relationship with God if your prayer life is not sound. The Word says: O thou that heareth prayer unto thee shall all flesh come (Psalm 65:2).God is ready to hear you any time you call, so do not hesitate to commune with Him, even concerning the minutest details of your life.

Have a Constant Fellowship: The fellowshipping of the saints is vital to relating with God. Going to church regularly will help strengthen your relationship with God. So, refuse to be a Sunday worshipper. God is always there whenever His name is called upon in truth and indeed. The Word says: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:20). As you attend fellowship, you partake of the gifts that operate in the Body of Christ, and you are more rooted in your relationship with your heavenly Father.

Many people desire guidance from God but do not seek Him, so they fall prey to false prophets and teachers. As such, they are led astray because they refuse to ask questions but seek help from man. The Word says: Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man (Psalm 60:11). Therefore, the pursuit of God gives confidence in the face of challenges.

However, until you are born again, you cannot seek an intimate relationship with God. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.

Congratulations! You are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
