Discipleship: Our Strategy for Kingdom Take-Over

Acts 19:1, 7-10(NKJV)

…Paul…came to Ephesus, And finding some disciples…*the men were about twelve in all, *And he went into the synagogue and spake boldly for three months reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the Kingdom of God.But when some were hardened and did not believe,…he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. And this continued for two years, so that all who dwell in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

Our basic strategy for Kingdom take-over is discipleship. In Matthew 28:18-20(NKJV) Jesus said,”….All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations ….teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo , I am with you always , even to the end of the age.” Discipleship is the process of developing the life and passion of Christ in a believer. Jesus did not just call us to make converts. He called us to make disciples of all nations. All nations include all geographical and cultural nations as well as all spheres of life and influence in society.

Discipleship requires love, teaching of the gospel of Christ, prayers, follow up , and showing the character of Christ with your example. All of these must be done with the power, boldness and authority of Christ. Discipleship requires vision ,patience and consistency. The vision is to see Christ fully formed in that believer’s life; to see that person manifest the life and passion of Christ. Discipleship does not end until the disciple joins you in the discipling and imparting the life of Christ into others.

Jesus Himself had disciples that He diligently taught and imparted and after He left, they continued teaching, discipling orders and manifesting His life to the world. The Bible records that they turned the world upside down ( Acts 17 : 6b). Because Apostle Paul taught the disciples in Ephesus consistently as seen in our text above, in two years, everyone in Asia heard the gospel. The disciples must have joined him to teach others also. Be more deliberate about discipleship.

Prayer Focus:
Ask God to use you to disciple and raise other believers who will manifest the life and passion of Christ. Ask God to use other believers also.
