DISCOVERING YOUR PURPOSE (2)

Dear Reader,

Peace and blessings, in Jesus name! God’s agenda for your life is always intact, and He expects you to have the greatest of life. This is why He has prompted me to write you this article centred on discovering your purpose. It is important to note that living your life without understanding why you came to the world is as good as not existing. The reason for your existence is your purpose, and if you must live a fulfilled life here on earth, you must discover your purpose. In the second edition of this series, I will be teaching you on How to discover your purpose. Therefore, as you read through, your mind will be open to the avenues you can access to discover your purpose.

 Inquire of the Lord

God is your manufacturer, and He is the custodian of every purpose. So, the easiest means is to inquire from Him. Enquiry is what leads to discovery (Habakkuk 2:1-3). Ask God; He has the firsthand information and details about you.  Matthew 7:7-8 says, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Pray to God from the depth of your heart with meekness; your prayer should be from a sincere heart that is willing to know, not a heart that is already made up and concluded on what to do. Consult the manufacturer’s manual (the Bible), and you will find a picture of your future. You make a future when you locate it in the Scripture.

Look Inwards

Your purpose is in you, so take inventory of your life because there is something within you that will give you a clue to where you belong. Ensure you are true to yourself and remember that no one knows what is in a man except the spirit within a man (1 Corinthians 2:11). Therefore, look inward for one or a combination of two or more of the following; it may be a pointer to your reason for existence.

Talents: Everyone has talents, and you must identify these gifts from God, which makes you stand out. However, you must look inward to discover them. Joseph, David and Moses were known for caring for sheep. David risked his life for his sheep, and he rescued them severally from being destroyed. Their prowess in caring for these animals was an indicator that they could also care for humans. As such, Joseph became the second in command in Egypt, David became king, and Moses was sent by God to rescue the children of Israel from captivity (Genesis 41:41-44; 2 Samuel 5:1-4; Exodus 3:7-10).

Passion: What are the things you are passionate about? What makes you highly emotional and have an insatiable drive towards achieving that particular thing? This is a pointer to your calling or purpose. For example, Nehemiah was a cupbearer, but he was known for his passion for his people. When he heard that Jerusalem was lying in waste, he was determined to rebuild it (Nehemiah 1:1-4; 2:1-8). As such, he was made a governor (Nehemiah 5:14).

Your Interest for A Certain Skill

Whatever you have acquired or developed through training or experience over a period of time is called skill. Your interest in a given skill can be a pointer towards what God wants you to be.

However, it is important to note that you cannot discover your purpose without having a relationship with Jesus. Your purpose is hidden inside of you, and it will be easier to discover that purpose in Christ. If you are yet to receive Jesus, you can say this prayer of faith with me: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God, and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
