Divine lifting and Appointment
1 Samuel 16:10-12 (NIV)
Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
There are divine responsibilities and elevations that God, in His divine love and grace, has prepared for you that neither you, nor those around you, can imagine possible. These divine responsibilities and elevations are specifically for you to fulfil God’s will and purpose for your life. When God sent Samuel to anoint a king from Jesse’s family, Jesse did not consider the possibility that his last son David could be the next king. That is why he did not bother sending for David at the onset. Humanly speaking, his other sons were better options because they were bigger, had physical stature and were enlisted in the army. In fact, Samuel almost anointed the wrong person – Eliab. “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1Sam.16:7, NIV).
David did not need to lobby for the position. He was not even aware of what was going on in his house. He was just being faithful and committed to his job where he was. When it was time for Joseph to be made the Prime Minister of Egypt, his height, complexion, gender, nationality are tribe were inconsequential. All that mattered wad that he had the Spirit of God in him (Gen.41:38). God’s testimony of David was that David was a man after God’s own heart and that David was going to fulfil God’s will (Acts 13:22). Psalms 89:20 says, “I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him.” As you continue to seek after God’s heart and commit yourself to doing His will, you also will experience divine lifting and appointments for fulfilment of purpose.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the great responsibilities and elevations you have in store for me. Help me to remain faithful and committed
