DIVINE PRESERVATION IN TIMES OF TRIALS AND PERSECUTION
2Timothy 4:16-18
At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me:… Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Trials and persecutions are inevitable in your life as a believer. God does not want us to see our trials and persecutions as strange things, (1Pet.4:12). God wants us to rejoice in them because they will work together for our good and He will deliver us from them, (Rom.5:3-5).
God does not want us to read negative meanings to them or to think that He has left us or that we are being punished. The Bible says we will enter the kingdom of God through much tribulation, (Acts 14:22) and the Bible also says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him from them all,” (Psa.34:19). Just like Daniel, God will preserve and deliver you from every lion’s den. Daniel was hated for his faith and was unjustly thrown into the lion’s den but God preserved him.
In our times of trials and persecutions, God wants us to know that He will always be with us and He will preserve and strengthen us to overcome. He will uphold us with His right hand of righteousness, (Isa.41:10). Many times, it can feel lonely and disheartening when we are facing trials and persecutions but God has promised to comfort us in all our troubles, (2Cor.1:3-4). God will strengthen and comfort us by His Spirit. Remain strong in faith. The devil wants to discourage your faith in God. Do not let him. Like
Jesus, keep your eyes on the joy set before you and endure the cross and despise the shame.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for your mighty strength and comfort available to preserve me and help me overcome trials and persecutions.
