DO NOT FRUSTRATE THE GRACE OF GOD
“We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God
in vain.” 2 Corinthians 6:1 (KJV)
It has become necessary for me to sound this warning as we begin this new year. Be careful,
lest you frustrate the Grace of God upon your life. God has ordained a corner for you to cover.
He has specially packaged you to function in a specific sector of society. However, the fact that
God has packaged you in a certain way does not mean you will get there if you fail to deploy the
potential in you.
The wise man said he went by the field of a sluggard, a field that is rich in resources. But the
lazy man that owns it was sleeping. He was hungry and full of complaints and asking God
questions, yet God made it all available for him on that field that he has refused to plow. This
lazy man is full of potential, but he will not amount to anything because he failed to deploy
what God gave him. He is loaded with grace but chose to frustrate the grace of God by sitting
down and doing nothing.
Many people are like him in our world today. They just sit, doing nothing. They forget that the
reason for grace is so that they can be the best that God has made them to be.
In our text today, Paul the Apostle was admonishing the Corinthian church not to receive the
grace in vain. Why? It is simply because it is possible and easy to do it. You have been called for
an assignment. There is a task with your name on it, find it and do it. Do not let your seat be
vacant. Many things can make you idle, and Paul listed some of them: afflictions, distress,
stripes, etc. but whatever it is, stay focused on the assignment.
You are alive today for a purpose. Paul understood the grace of God is for an assignment so he
could boldly say. He said: “I do not frustrate the grace of God…” (Galatians 2:21 KJV). Let that
be your testimony all through this year and beyond.
