Do not get carried away

John 6:24-26 (TPT), Hebrews 11:6
So when the people saw on the shoreline a number of small boats from Tiberias and realized Jesus and the disciples weren’t there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum to search for him. When they finally found him, they asked him, “Teacher, how did you get here?” Jesus replied, “Let me make this very clear, you came looking for me because I fed you by a miracle, not because you believe in me. *… he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God loves us so much and He wants to meet our needs and manifest His abundant blessings in our lives. However, He does not want us to get carried away by the things He gives to us, to the point that those things become our focus and only motive for seeking Him. The greatest thing God wants to give is more of Himself. God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him; and what we must seek Him for the most is more of Him. To know Him more and to do His will. All things including our lives were made for God’s pleasure, (Rev.4:11) and God is pleased when we seek Him diligently and our focus remains on Him.

Do not become covetous. Remember that your life is not measured in the abundance of things you have (Luke 12:15) but in the abundance of God’s Life and presence that you have. That is where your real direction, fulfillment and prosperity in every area of your life lie. In God’s presence, there is fullness of joy, (Psa.16:11). He has given you all things, (2Pet.1:3). People who do not know God base their lives on seeking just things. You on the other hand know God and your focus is on God and how you can be all that He wants you to be.

The death of Jesus was not just for your material needs but for you to come into a relationship with God through Him. He wants to fill your life with His grace and presence. He wants to move through you to bless the lives of others. He wants to transform your life and make you more like Himself. These are the things you must focus on and desire most in your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I desire to please you and know you more and more. Make me more like you and use me to do your will for my life.
