DO NOT GIVE IN TO THAT PRESSURE

Genesis 39:7-12

…after a while his master’s wife began to desire Joseph and asked him to go to bed with her. He refused and said to her, “… How…could I do such an immoral thing and sin against God?” Although she asked Joseph day after day, he would not go to bed with her. But one day…She caught him by his robe and said, “Come to bed with me.” But he escaped and ran outside, leaving his robe in her hand.

As the favour of God upon Joseph’s life began to manifest, a strong temptation arose against him. One he may not have been expecting. His master’s wife wanted to sleep with him and she was very persistent. After asking him day after day, she proceeded to approach him physically and force him to sin with her. Joseph’s mind was resolved based on his honour and reverence for God and it reflected in his actions. He kept refusing and the moment she tried to force him, he left his robe with her and ran away. Delilah also pressured Samson persistently but sadly, Samson gave in to her pressure and his story did not end well. The Bible says,“She kept on asking him, day after day. He got so sick and tired of her bothering him about it that he finally told her the truth….,” (Judg.16:16-17a, GNB).

Do not give up and do not give in, dear child of God! The wisdom and strength of God is available to you. Keep your eyes on the joy that is set before you. You will overcome and you will prevail. God will make a way of escape for you, (1Cor.10:13). God will rescue you! The Bible says, “He rescued Lot, a good man, who was distressed by the immoral conduct of lawless people. That good man lived among them, and day after day he suffered agony as he saw and heard their evil actions. And so the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials,…”(2Pet.2:7-9a, GNB).

Prayer Focus:
Receive God’s wisdom and strength for you and every believer under pressure to do evil. Pray that God will rescue us and we will not give up.
