Do Not Lose Your Hunger
Philippians 3:9-10 (TPT)
My passion is to be consumed with him and not cling to my own “righteousness” based in keeping the written Law. My only “righteousness” will be his, based on the faithfulness of Jesus Christ—the very righteousness that comes from God. And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and become like him in his death.
When your faith and confidence are absolutely in Christ, you will hunger for Him more than you hunger for anything else. You will hunger for Him because you know that without Him you can do nothing (John 15:5). Apostle Paul confirmed that it was Christ who strengthened him in all he did (Phil.4:13). This hunger drove Jesus when He was on the earth. He said, “I can do nothing of myself” (John 8:28) and assured us that it was the Father in Him manifesting all the works (John 14:10). This is why He often withdrew Himself to spend quality time with the Father (Luke 5:15-16). Child of God, remember that you are dead and that Christ is your life (Col.3:3-4). You are no longer living. It is Christ living in you (Gal.2:20). The more you realize this, the more you will hunger to know Christ and be filled with His fullness.
Apostle Paul counted growing in his knowledge of Christ the most important thing in his life. When compared to this, he counted everything else as rubbish. He did this so that he could win or gain Christ. Philippians 3:8 (CEV) says, “Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ.” Let the same hunger emerge from the depth of your soul. David said, “as the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.” (Psa.42:1, NKJV.) Your hunger for more of the fullness of Christ is a reflection of the value you have placed on knowing Him. Everything you desire is in Christ (Rom.8:32).
God has called us to obtain the glory of Christ (2TThes.2:14). This is our high calling and a very great privilege. When Christ returns, we shall also have His glorious body. Desire and press into Christ more than anything else.
Prayer:
I cannot do without you, Lord. Dear Father, please fill me with more of the fullness of Christ. Reveal Christ to me and make me more like Christ.
