Memorise: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. – Mark 12:30

Read: Deuteronomy 6:4-7

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Bible In One Year: Genesis 6-8; Matthew 3

MESSAGE:

Today, many claim to love God and they do, but they love some worldly things more than they love God. For instance, some young men won’t trade their love for football matches or their club for anything, to the extent that if the time for the church service or fellowship meeting clashes with the time of any of their matches, they’d rather not go for service that day.

Some people also claim to love God for what they will gain. They feel happy to declare their love for God when they have more than enough to eat, money to spend or achieve success academically. Your love for God should not be based on anything. No wonder God loved David so much. In Psalm 42:1, David said: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God.”

If you truly love God, your heart pant after Him and nothing will be big to let go of for the Lord.

Key Point: If you love God, you will pant after Him.
