Do You Rejoice When Others are Victorious?

November 3, 2021Save Article

PRAY OVER THIS:

“Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.” (1 Samuel 18:3)

PONDER THIS:

I think Jonathan is one of the finest men in the entire Bible. There was not a hint of jealousy in Jonathan. It was obvious that David was going to be the next king of Israel even though Jonathan was the heir apparent to the throne. Jonathan was the son of the king, and yet Jonathan had no jealousy, no envy. Seeing that God gave a mighty victory to David, Jonathan entered into a partnership with David as if to say, “I want to share in your victories. I am so grateful for what God is doing with you and through you.” That’s a wonderful way to be. And I believe God will bless you as a Christian when you rejoice in the victories of another Christian.

God forbid that we should ever look upon the victory of another Christian as our loss. We’re in the Body of Christ. We are in a blood covenant one with another. The Bible teaches that when one member rejoices, every member should rejoice. When one member suffers, every member should suffer. Can you rejoice when God is blessing the other person or the church down the street? Jonathan could.
