Doing God’s Will with Passion and Sacrifice

Acts 21:13 (LB ), Acts 20:24 (NLT), John 4:33-34 (NLT)
But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! For I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but also to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.” *… my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. *“Did someone bring him food while we were gone?” the disciples asked each other. Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.”

When we discover what God’s will is for our lives or for a situation, the way we go about accomplishing it matters. Titus 2:14 (GNB) says, “He gave himself for us, to rescue us from all wickedness and to make us a pure people who belong to him alone and are eager to do good.” God does not wants us to do what is right, He wants us to do it with zeal and passion and with all our heart. The Bible says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people” (Col.3:23, GNB). When we are passionate about doing God’s will, we will be willing and able to make any necessary sacrifices to ensure that His will is done.our passion also helps us to overcome and to remain consistent, even in the midst of challenges.

Passionate people are very influential. One reason why someone like Apostle Paul was passionate for God was because of the revelation of Christ and God’s love that he had received. When we realized that God has given His all for us, we will give our all for Him. Apostle Paul said, “For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and holds us tightly, because we are convinced that he has given his life for all of us. This means all died with him, so that those who live should no longer live self-absorbed lives but lives that are poured out for him—the one who died for us and now lives again” (2Cor.5:14-15).

Another thing that helps us to be passionate and sacrificial is our consciousness of the great blessings and rewards that await us for pleasing God and doing His will. The joy that was set before Jesus caused Him to endure and sacrifice His life to do God’s will to bring about our salvation (Heb.12:2).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I desire to do your will with great zeal, passion and sacrifice. Help me to keep my eyes on your love and my heavenly reward.
