DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS

“And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on.” Genesis 28:20 KJV

In Genesis 28:10-22, Jacob had a supernatural experience and the Lord said to him: “You are going to break forth to the south, north, east and west.” God was saying that He had literally offered the entire world unto Jacob and that the blessing He was going to give him would transcend generations.

But listen to Jacob’s request: “Lord, just be with me… Just give me some food to eat and cloth to wear. That’s enough for me.” What Jacob had was survival mentality- the same mentality that many church folks have today. How can you settle for less in the midst of abundance?  You don’t know the powerful investment that you carry as a believer. Yet, all you’re asking from God is mere provision. Is that all Jesus died for? No wonder Jesus said, “take no thought for your life, what you should wear or eat.” Your life is more important than food and your body more than clothes. Jesus said that the lilies of the field and the fowls of the air do not toil, yet they are clothed; He takes care of them. He said take no thought; meaning: Why is that your main concern?

Beloved, you must begin to move into the supernatural abundance that God has ordained for you. When I read that passage of the Bible, it hit me like a thunderbolt because for the next 20 years, God never spoke to Jacob. God said, “when you grow up, then we will revisit what I have told you.” With all the great promises of God to Jacob, he was busy looking for mere basic necessities. How big is your vision or do you think God loves those whom He is blessing more than you? If that is your mentality, then something is wrong with your thinking pattern because God loves us equally. It depends on where you want to stand.
