DON’T STOP BEING FAITHFUL

LUKE 19:20-23 (GNB) Another servant…said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it hidden… I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take what is not yours and reap what you did not plant.’ He said to him, ‘You bad servant! I will use your own words to condemn you! You know…I am a hard man, … Well, then, why didn’t you put my money in the bank? Then I would have received it back with interest when I returned.’

Just like the servant in our text above, different people often have different reasons for not being faithful. However, none of such reasons are valid. The major reason the servant in our text above was not faithful was because of the perception he had of his master. Was his perception of his master correct? In the long run, was it him or his master that suffered loss?

For some, it is the environment or the attitude of others that is making them unfaithful. In both Potiphar’s house and the prison, Joseph could have decided not to be faithful, because the condition was not very conducive for him. If he did this, he would have cut himself short and missed out of the increase in influence that God had in mind for him. Daniel also remained faithful and served four kings of Babylon.

God does not want you to be faithful only when you have a good leader or when the conditions are right or when you feel like being faithful. God wants you to be faithful at all times. Faithfulness is part of God’s nature in you, (Gal.5:22b, GNB). Exercise it. Stop pointing fingers and blaming others or your environment. Stop being wicked. Whenever you are not being productive, you are being wicked. You are wasting God’s blessings and resources that have been invested in you.
