Memorise: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12.

Read: Hebrews 4:12-13

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Bible In One Year: Psalm 148-150, 1 Corinthians 11:16-34

MESSAGE:

Two things anyone who will remain relevant in God’s vineyard must do are: self examination and self purging. 2 Corinthians 13:5a says:

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”

Sometimes, even when you feel it that you are no longer connecting to God like you used to. When you feel that way, you need to do a self evaluation. Have you reduced the time you spend reading your bible and praying? Have you reduced your attendance of church meetings? Have you been spending more time on television and social media? You need to retrace your steps and put things right. Backsliding is a gradual process it doesn’t just happen suddenly. If you don’t retrace your steps now, you may soon find yourself doing things that were once an abomination to you. Be wise, don’t ignore the nudging of the Holy Spirit to draw nearer.

Key Point:

The devil won’t bring sin to you first, his strategy will be to draw you away from God, then it will be easier for you to sin. Make sure you are never far from God.

Hymn 14:

1. O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2. The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3. Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4. O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
