DRINK FROM GOD’S RIVER OF JOY

ISAIAH 55:1a & 2b, PSALMS 46:4 (GNB), REVELATION 1:14-15 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters…*Listen carefully to Me,…and let your soul delight itself in abundance. *There is a river that brings joy to the city of God, to the sacred house of the Most High. *His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;

We’ve been looking at how the word ‘water’ in the Bible refers to God’s word for the past two days. The Bible mentions a river that brings joy to God’s city in our second text above. God’s city is you and me, and God’s word is the river that brings joy into our lives. According to the Passion Translation, “God has a never-ending river whose sparkling streams bring joy and delight to his people.” His river flows directly through God Most High’s city, into his holy dwelling places.” Remember that Jesus is God’s word, and that the revelation of Christ is God’s river of joy. John compared Jesus’ voice to the sound of many waters. Like water, Jesus’ words can flood and impact our lives in a variety of ways.

Have you ever felt the joy that comes from reading God’s word? “Thy words were found, and I ate them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts,” said the prophet Jeremiah. (Jer.15:16). According to the Bible, when Philip went to Samaria to preach Christ to them, there were great manifestations and joy in that city (Acts 8:4-8). As you continue to receive the revelation of Christ and all He has accomplished through His Cross, you will experience great benefits and manifestations in your life, as well as divine joy.

Father, thank you for the joy you bring into my life as I fill myself with the revelation of what you’ve done for me in Christ
