EATING AND DRINKING CHRIST’S FLESH AND HIS BLOOD

John 6:53-56, Luke 22:19

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. *And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Just before Jesus went to the cross, He took bread, broke it and gave it to His disciples saying, this is my body broken for you. As you eat it, remember me. Now, it was during the suffering and death of Christ that His Body was actually broken for us. His body was broken for us so that our lives will be complete in Him. The first way that we eat Christ’s flesh and drink His blood is by believing in His suffering and death for us. The next way is by partaking of the communion. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” (1Cor.10:16). It is our belief in what Christ did for us on the Cross that gives power to the communion that we partake of. For those who don’t believe, the communion is just ordinary bread and wine to them. But for us who believe in what Christ did for us on the Cross, we declare and experience God’s supernatural power as we partake of the communion.

God wants us to partake of the communion often, (1Cor. 11:23- 25). He wants us to continually remind ourselves of the suffering and death of Christ because as we remain conscious of it, we activate the manifestation of His resurrection power in our lives. John 12:31-33 says, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die.”
By His suffering and death for us, Jesus has destroyed the devil’s power over our lives (Heb.2:14) and He has taken away our sins and drawn us to Himself. He has made us like Himself and He has drawn us near and into God’s family (Eph.2:12-13). We are now partakers of God’s divine nature and inheritance.

Faith Declaration:
I believe in all Jesus did for me by His suffering and death and I declare His power and glory over my life right now!
