In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…

We have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Our sins have been forgiven, and we are accepted in the Beloved. Oh, the riches of God’s grace!

Colossians 2:14 says that He “wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us.” The impossible-to-uphold Law is the handwriting that stands against us. One broken statute meant we were fully guilty.

“Handwriting” was the term used for the signature on an IOU, a document that acknowledged a debt we could not pay. But Jesus signed our IOU at the cross.

An ancient method existed for indicating a paid-in-full debt. A person could cross out the writing on the IOU or strike through it with a nail. Jesus’ nail-pierced hands crossed out the judgment against us.

Picture your long list of sins written down for all to see. Can you see the nail pounded through Jesus’ hand to the list beneath? Can you see the stream of His blood washing away the record that stood against you?

Our sins never to be remembered again. Our names recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Our filthy rags traded for spotless robes of righteousness. Destined to live in mansions prepared by the Architect of the Ages. Redeemed by His precious blood!

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May the blood of Jesus purge from all sin, purify from all unrighteousness, awaken to His purposes, and draw a circle of protection around you. Rejoice in the power of His blood!
