Memorise: “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” – 2 Corinthians 3:2
Read: 2 Corinthians 3:2-3
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Bible In One Year: Psalm 105-106, Romans 15:1-21
MESSAGE:
One day, a very big leader of Muslims said “If I can find ten Christians like Pastor Adeboye, I will convert to Christianity”. Do you know that as a Christian, you are in the full glare of people and should act differently from everyone else? They watch and take note of everything you do and say. That is why you hear people say things like “And you say you are a Christian”. Being a Christian makes you an example of how others should live their lives. Unbelievers don’t read the Bible, what they read is us Christians. We are God’s epistle to them, we are the constant reminder of the life they should be living. That is why we must be careful what we do or say. Just by observing you, someone can give his life or decide to never give his life to Christ; it all depends on how well you present Jesus to them through your lifestyle. You are an ambassador of Christ, represent Him correctly.
If you are tempted to sin, apart from the consequences on you, think about other people who you are an example to and avoid that sin so that you don’t lead them astray.
Key Point:
What kind of message do people read from your life, is it a message of love and holiness or violence and sin?
Hymn 11:
1 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.
2 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.
3 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
