Experiencing the Kingdom of God in the Holy Spirit

Romans 14:17(GNB, CEV) John 16:13-14(LB)

For God’s Kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of the righteousness, peace, and joy which the Holy Spirit gives. *God’s kingdom isn’t about eating and drinking. It is about pleasing God , about living in peace, and about true happiness. All this comes from the Holy Spirit. *When the Holy Spirit, who is truth, comes, he shall guide you into all truth, for he will….be passing on to you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He shall praise me and bring me great honour by showing you my glory.

One of the major reasons that God has given us the Holy Spirit is so that we can experience His kingdom in our lives. The Holy Spirit helps us to receive the gospel of Christ and enter into the experience of the glorious life and ways of God. Like our first text above says, the Holy Spirit gives us the righteousness, peace and joy of God’s kingdom. He ensures that even though we are here on earth, we can function in God’s realm and experience God’s glory and reality for our lives, just as it is in Heaven.

The Holy Spirit takes all that Christ is and has and He reveals and manifests them in our lives . In our second text above, Jesus confirmed that the Holy Spirit will show you His glory. The reason the Holy Spirit shows you the glory of Christ is so that He can transform you into that glory of Christ ( 2 Corinthians 3:18 ). He will overshadow you like He did to Mary and He will cause you to experience and manifest the glory of Christ in your life. You will experience and manifest the character of Christ, the wisdom of Christ and the anointing of Christ. You will function just like Christ in every area of your life.

We need to focus on the glory of Christ. The only way our lives can be transformed to reflect the reality of God’s kingdom is if we focus on the glory of Christ (by focusing on who Christ is and all the wonderful things He has done for us by His death , burial and resurrection). We focus on the glory of Christ in the study of the scriptures. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth about who we are, what we have and what we can do in Christ, by Christ, through Christ and with Christ. As this happens, we grow in our experience of God’s kingdom.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I yield myself to Your Spirit right now. I thank you for the glory of Christ that the Holy Spirit is revealing to me and in me.
