For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” – Mark 8:36

The rich young ruler attempted great things for himself but those things kept him away from God. Don’t waste your life acquiring great possessions that will keep you away from God. Attempt great things for God and He will give you great possessions if He wants to.

The Gentiles seek great things for themselves. Jesus never sought great things for Himself. Jesus taught us to seek great things for the kingdom of God.

Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34

The reason why Jesus taught us to seek great things for the kingdom was to differentiate us from those who do not have faith in God. Your faith in God will lead you to seek great things for God. Big faith in God results in great achievements for God! Little faith results in little achievements for God! Seek ye first the kingdom of God. Believe that the kingdom of God is worthy of your life. Believe that seeking the kingdom of God is the greatest thing you can do. That is what will result in the greatest achievements.
