FAITH, GODLY SORROW AND REPENTANCE (2)

2Corinthians 7:10a (NIV, TPT), Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, …God designed us to feel remorse over sin in order to produce repentance that leads to victory. This leaves us with no regrets…And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Receiving God’s forgiveness if we sin is not enough. Desire to experience victory over sin. You must believe that overcoming sin is very possible as this is the beginning of victory over sin. In Christ, God has given us the ability to experience victory over sin. We are no longer sinners. We have been made righteous and holy, just like Christ and by the nature of God in us, we can live holy and righteous just like God.

We saw yesterday that godly sorrow leads to repentance and repentance, which is to change or renew our minds, is what leads to victory over sin. It is only as we change or renew our minds that we will be
transformed. God cannot transform you if you refuse to renew your mind. How then do we really repent/ change or renew our minds? The new man is renewed in the knowledge of God, (Col.3:10). We repent/ change or renew our minds by declaring to ourselves, God’s truth concerning who we are in Christ until it takes over our minds and transforms us.

It takes faith to keep this process, until you experience the transformation. Keep saying it, no matter how you feel. Say it until it takes a hold of you. Don’t wait to be caught before you feel sorrowful. That is hypocrisy. Don’t wait to fall again before you renew your mind. Continue renewing your mind until you are transformed.

Prayer:
Father, thank you that as I renew my mind by your word, I am transformed and victorious over sin. Help me keep renewing my mind.
